The area of specialization in the practice of physical therapy shall be one for which there exists a significant and clear health demand and include a reasonable number of individuals who devote a significant portion of their clinical activity to practice in the specialty area. 1 The number of physical therapists with specialized training and knowledge, and the demand to provide this physical therapy service to the public is the reason for certification in a specialty area.
